SULSESC REPORT

by South London Press at Glanford Park

NEIL Danns struck a dramatic winner in the third minute of stoppage time to ensure the Eagles won their third match in a row.

The visitors were outplayed in the opening 45 minutes and Cliff Byrne missed a simple chance to put the Iron ahead.

But Scunthorpe, despite their movement causing Palace problems, still struggled to carve clear openings as their opponents put in a gritty defensive display.

And Darren Ambrose produced an excellent finish, firing across Iron keeper Joe Murphy, in the 63nd minute for his 15th goal of the campaign.

Palace hopes of victory were boosted when Marcus Williams was shown a straight red for bringing down sub Kieran Djilali, who had raced onto a Danns' pass and was racing through on goal.

But Scunthorpe came up with a reply when defender David Mirfin rose at the near post to head a corner into the top of the net.

But Palace took all three points as Danns, who scored twice in last weekend's vital match against Peterborough, showed determination to break through a tackle before curling in a left-foot strike.
