SULSESC REPORT
by Neil Wright at Whaddon Road
“After a very difficult week, the passion, desire and commitment shown by those players was second to none and they are a great credit to Scunthorpe United Football Club.”
Those, dear fellow members, were the post-match words of caretaker-manager Nigel Adkins after the FA Cup, first round draw at Cheltenham.
I’m not quite sure which game he was actually watching but please permit me to rewrite that statement in words that I feel are more appropriate for what we, the fans, witnessed.
“After a very difficult week, the passionless, inept and gutless performance shown by these players was not acceptable and they have not only let the fans down, but they have let Scunthorpe United Football Club down.”
There is not really a lot else for me to say about this evening’s display. If this is the standard of performance post-Brian Laws, then please prepare yourselves for a long and difficult season.
Against better opposition, we would now be out of the cup. Had it not been for Murphy producing two or three great saves, we would have witnessed what could only be described as the worst performance of the season.
The jury is out on who should replace Lawsy!
