SULSESC REPORT
by Karen Holland at Aggborough Stadium
WE love playing the team at the bottom of the league, and for the second time this season we got to do just that.
Only a disappointing four of us took advantage of bargain train tickets up to the Midlands and we made it to the Railway Tavern (note to Ed. - is that what it is called?) bright and early.
Mark Borrill arrived after lunch in fine Jackanory form to boost the numbers to five. Lunch consisted of raw fish - can someone remind me that the food is better in the ground than in the pub next year?
The friendly locals were all convinced that we were going to walk all over lowly Kidderminster and, as we wandered over to the game, I for one was feeling quietly confident.
My confidence remained intact as we deservedly took the lead through Steve Torpey. His shot somehow seemed to elude the numerous bodies in the box and ended up in the back of the net.
Kidderminster equalised after 25 minutes as Ian Foster sneaked the ball in slow motion, with the aid of a deflection, past Paul Musselwhite's right hand.
So it's 1–1 at half time. That's all right we are much better than this lot, we'll get another goal. And so we did, as Paul Hayes got his sixth of the season.
The pies were flying everywhere - and if you watch the goals on the telly, you can see us celebrating in the terraces behind the Scunny flags. Anyway, it was not to be, and for the second time this season we lost out to the team at the bottom of the pile. Ian Foster scored again on 68, and in the 93rd minute Michael Rankine lost the ball in his own half and two nice moves later it was in the back of our net. Hopefully this is just a brief slip into last year's habit of conceding late goals.
And so Kidderminster get only their third win of the season and nearly double their goal tally all in one day.
I blame Fat Phil myself. So who is the manager of Kidderminster anyway?
