SULSESC REPORT
by Howard Paynter at Liberty Stadium
I SUPPOSE we went down to South Wales buoyed up a little by our devastating performance against the Blades on Tuesday. Sadly, this was not a repeat performance. Although we had 45 per cent of the possession, we were "under the cosh" for much of the game. We did little in the first 20 minutes, whereas our Welsh hosts created chances aplenty.
We subsequently came more into the game, but scoring opportunities we found hard to come by. There were spells in the second-half when they dominated and the woodwork saved us more than once.
With 10 minutes to go, I suggested that Swansea wouldn't even score in a brothel, whereupon they scored twice in two minutes. There was certainly no way back then.
We did seem a bit short in terms of width and Toggers didn't look comfortable out on the left. It was an interesting (but ultimately fruitless) decision to bring Jones on as a striker!
I know Bara went out to attack, and we did try, but we were not very successful in terms of strikes on target (just three). However, we did contain them for long periods of the game and we did work hard - we had to!
While the Swans go off to Peterborough on Tuesday, we host Manchester United on Wednesday - it doesn't get much better than that for us Iron supporters, does it?
