ANOTHER 24-page A4 edition, the front cover focussed on United's bold bid for promotion on the final Saturday of the season with victory at Torquay, which was thwarted only by Bolton's win at Wrexham. David Harle was unveiled as the club's first player of the year, having received his trophy in Botham's Bar at the Old Show Ground after the final league game ever played there against Exeter City. Features inside included a two-page spread on the FA Cup victory over Sunderland, When Saturday Comes' farewell to the Old Show Ground and a Sunday Express feature on Mick Buxton. Match reports penned by club members ran from Wrexham at home on November 3, 1987, to the 0-1 home defeat by Wolves on January 30, 1988.
